WHAT IS THIS ‘PPE FEE’?
In the age of COVID-19, the bill we charge at the end of your appointment covers far more than just your dental work. It also helps pay for everything we’re doing to keep you safe. You may have noticed a new “PPE Fee” charged to your account. PPE, or personal protective equipment, includes the masks, face shields, gloves, and lab coats/surgical gowns that our team wears. Because of the pandemic, this necessary equipment costs 3–8 times more than usual right now. With permission from the NJ Department of Banking and the NJ State Board of Dentistry, we’ve passed on a small share of that cost to you in the form of a “PPE
Fee” to ensure we can afford to give you the best protection possible. Your health and safety is our No. 1 priority — and we’re not sparing any expense! The safety gadgets and controls we’ve put in place for you and our team go far beyond the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommendations. We feel these steps are necessary for your protection and peace of mind, but they come at a cost. Below is a quick rundown of our PPE and other safety measures.
High-End PPE
We’re using vacuum technology to prevent airborne particles! This Isolite and The Leaf
Our personal protective equipment (PPE) is top-notch. Our staff will wear double layers of masks at all times — any combination of Level 3 masks, KN95 and N95 masks, depending on the procedure. We'll also wear regular face shields/ surgical loupes/protective glasses, lab coats/surgical gowns, and gloves. Our new air filters turn over the air in our treatment rooms every four minutes. This is lightning fast and helps prevent airborne pathogens. Surgically Clean Air
in-mouth machine sucks up 90% of aerosols. It also helps isolate the part of your mouth that we’re working on and includes a bite block to hold your mouth open, letting your jaw relax.
We’ve added hypochlorous acid to our array of disinfectants approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Our bodies naturally produce Hypochlorous Acid Fog
To be extra cautious, we’ve invested in another level of vacuum technology. This machine sits just outside of your mouth and vacuums in sprays, aerosols, bacteria, viruses, and more. Its five layers of filtration help keep you and our staff safe! Extraoral Vacuums
this chemical to fight bacteria and viruses, so it’s safe and effective. We invested in a fogger to spread the disinfectant around the treatment room and scrub the air.
The last thing we want to do is charge you more. But we want to make sure you have the best protection possible so that you feel safe and secure visiting our office. To learn more about our office’s safety procedures and how we’ll make your visit as low-stress as we can, just flip the page ...
