From which it is a.t once apparent that they do not regard the Bible as the inerrant Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice. Remember ing that the "Word of God is living and powerful” and the "Sword of the Spirit” (Heb. 4:12) and that it will bring conviction if it is faithfully used, even though the person with whom one may be dealing professes not to believe it, quote Gal. 1:8: “ Bat- though we. or on angel from heaven, preneh any other gospel nnto yon than thnt ye have received, let him be accursed.” The gospel of the Mormons is not the Gospel, for it is no "good news” to men. The other books which they regard as of equal authority with the Word of God are the products of fraud and chicanery. God says in Jer. 23: 28: I “The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dreami and he that hath my word, let him apeak my word faithfully. What la the chaff to the wheat? aalth the Lord.” Jesus had the Old Testament in His hands when He said (John 5 :39 ): “ Search the Scrlptureat for la them ye think ye have eternal llfei and they are they which teatlfy of me.” (Use also Rev. 20:12; 2 Pet. 1:1a- 21; 2:1, 2; 3:16; 1 John 4:1; Rev. 22:18-20). Sin (1) . They teach that men will be punished, for their own sins, but not for Adam’s transgression; but the Bible teaches that men are under a two-fold condemnation: First: By reason of their sinful nature which separates them from God; and, sec ond, by reason of the commission of sins of their own volition. Through Adam’s sin, they inherit Adam’s na ture, and that nature is enmity against God. (Rom. 8 :7 ): “ Because the carnal mind la enmity against Godi for It la not subject to the law of God, neither Indeed can be.” (Rom. 5:12 ). (2 ) They teach that "Adam and Eve rejoiced and praised God, when they sinned.” This statement is exceedingly pecu liar in view of the facts as stated in Scripture, that Adam and his wife hid themselves for fear of God, and when God called them into His presence, He put the curse upon them for their sin (Gen. 3 :8 ). Atonement (1 ) They teach that "the atone ment of Christ does not save souls, but only delivers the earth from the power of death.” This statement is a direct denial of the plain teaching of the Bible. (Acts 13 :39 ): (Continued on next page)

be given in this issue. In July we will take up one of the prevalent and popu lar “ isms” of the day, "New Thought." MORMONISM The December number gave the “ Thirteen Articles of Belief” as pub lished by the Mormon Church for dis tribution, and, somewhat in detail, HE LEADS ME ON He leads me on in strangest ways. Through darkest nights and sunlit days; He knows the way—(that way He trod, The path that leadeth straight to God. My hand He holds; His hand is. warm; In conscious trust I fear no harm. Though He may lead through paths unknown, He never leaves me all alone. So on we go, through scenes 'so strange, The valleys deep, the moun tains’ range; Yet on, and upward, all the way, Till Heaven we’ll reach some good, glad day! Stand by the Cross and bow to Him Whose life-blood paid the price of sin; And He will take you by the hand And lead you safe to Glory Land. Chorus: Oh, glory, glory to His name, Who on the cruel cross was slain; And glory, glory, for we’ll be With Him through all eter nity! T.C.H. Long Beach, California

DEFENDING THE FAITH IN Af “ LIBERAL” COLLEGE In these days when unbelief is so rampant among the students in our schools and colleges, it is indeed re freshing to have a letter like the fol lowing from a young woman in one of the old and well known Colleges where “ Modernism” is very much in the ascendant: “Thank you for the very Interesting nnd valuable literature which I received hh a ‘ Defender o f the Faith,* I praise Uod for the privilege, In a liberal col lege, of fighting the good light o f faith ngalnat liberation, and that I can give a reason for the faith that la In me. I thank God for a few faithful ones, and pray that the constant desire o f my Ufe may he ‘Jesus only.* “The literature has been a great bless ing and I pray dally for The K ing’s Busi ness and the ‘Defenders’.” (L. I,., Ohio.) SUNSHINE IN A SANATORIUM “ I was very glad to have the tracts, and have distributed most of them. You will be glad to know that some of them were given to a patient, a young woman, who had hardened her heart against God. Later she was very eager to know more about God and asked the nurses to read to her out o f the Bible, and desired to have a minister come to see her. She has passed away, hut we have every reason to believe that she was saved and Is now In Heaven. * * * I want you to know that you may count on me as one of your ‘Prayer-Leaguers’.** (Mrs. C. L., WIs.) Surely, it was well worth while to have had a share in "Defending the Faith” in that college and that sana torium, wasn’t it? And we know that all of the "Inner Circle” will be glad to put this Ohio college student and this nurse in Wisconsin on their prayer list, that God .may increasingly use and bless their efforts. HOW ABOUT A BADGE? A Pennsylvania “ Defender" in ask ing for list of names in her neighbor hood that she may organise them into a Prayer Circle, says: “ If you will pardon the suggestion, why not have a button or badge to help us locate each other, so that we might the more easily become acquainted and show our colors without offending through uninvited speech. You know we Easterners must be very careful on this score.“ What do the other "Defenders” think of this suggestion? Let us know. REQUEST FOR PRAYER “ Pray that God will greatly honor the service of our pastor and his wife, who are true to the Word In the midst o f much opposition. The pastor’s wife has started a Prayer Circle, which meets weekly to pray for the unsaved.” (Mrs. E. A. F ., N. Y.) their teaching as to God and man, to gether with the Scripture references showing the fallacy of their claims. Coming now to tbeir teaching as to The Bible, we find the following in their "Statement of Doctrine” : "We consider the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Book of Doctrine, etc., our guides in faith and doctrine. ***The living oracles (priestly revela tions now), are worth more to the Latter-Day Saints than all the Bibles.”
