Major Davies refutes and indeed posi tively routs the advocates of organic evolution, which is the supreme weap on of religious rationalism. I believe a brilliant and crushing assault like
preaching of these sermons in the salvation of many souls and the dedi cation of the lives of many of the saints to His service. Pastors and teachers will be helped in using these sermons. This is a straightforward de fense of the verity of the Bible and an expose of the ignorance displayed in the absurd efforts of the Modernists to perpetuate the attacks of former opponents. S.C., Gold Medallist in Geology, McGill University, etc. This booklet is an effort to simplify the story of creation by the use of simple language without technicalities so that it will be intel ligible to young people, and a help to those who are teaching children. It should be in the hands of parents also. (B. I. Colportage Assn.) 10c An Infallible Guide, Intimate Talks About Divine Guidance, by Dr. Charles A. Blanchard, l a t e President of Wheaton College. Dr. Blanchard is with the Lord, but his messages are still living. We cannot give the book a better commendation than to make a brief quotation: “ There is a best way to live. There is a best occupa tion to choose. There are best friends to select, and our lives, for shame or honor, for success or failure, for life or death, depend upon' our choices. **Is there an infallible Guide?” One will And this question very definitely answered in this little volume. (B. I. Colportage Assn.) 40c The Bible and Modern Science, by L. Merson Davies, R.A., F.G.S. Harold C. Morton says in the foreword: "Ma jor Davies adduces a glittering galaxy of fact from astronomy and physics, showing how the Bible waits at the head of the paths of scientific progress to greet the discoverer with its revela tion of prior knowledge. * * * In the chapters upon the biology of the Bible,

travesty on the message of grace, while they shouted and applauded. Presently another takes the stand and with a heart burdened for the lost tells out the message of grace. An old man invited into the hall to talk over spiritual things is soon discovered to have been drinking at muddy streams. He had been wan dering about from one religious gather ing to another, had been pleaded with to pray, to "kneel at the altar,” to "seek the power,” but somehow the power didn’t fall on him. We tried to bring the Word of God to bear upon him, but he would always come back to experiences apd feelings; nothing would satisfy but the “ power,” a re ligion of emotion, of strange thrills, of inward waves, and loud shoutings; a pitiful case, for he was a very old man and facing eternity, without God and hope in the world. We could but press upon him a copy of the Word of God, and pray the Holy Spirit would lead him to read of Him who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In striking contrast, along came a little tow headed lad. Here we dis cover good soil to sow the seed. Just a simple child’s trust and confidence in the Word of God. "Unless you become as little child ren”— Did he- believe? Didn’t Jesus say it, and must it not therefore be true? H “ This one went away justified. You ask, “ Are you sure?” Well, “ By their fruits you shall khow them,” and presently he is back pulling a great big husky lad twice his size after him reluctantly into the hall. The intro duction was unique. “ Here’s Bill; he isn’t saved, but he needs to be; tell him.” And although we may be some what dubious as to just how deep the message gets under “ Bill’s hide,” he is given a bright red Gospel and led away by Ted, who soon returns with still another one. God bless the boy! His zeal puts some of us older ones to the blush, but “ a little child shall lead them.” Still— these striking contrasts come and go; some believe and some be lieve not. “ Let both grow together till the harvest.” The sheep and the goats will then forever be separated, so we “ sow beside all waters,” seeking by His grace to “ occupy till He come.” “ Say you not that unavailing are the words you try to speak; Trust the Holy Spirit’s unction, He will strengthen what you speak. Go ye forth to do His bidding, the Truth shall make you bold; Though few should heed your story, that story must be told.” “ And the servant said, Lord, it is done as Thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.”
W O R K AM O N G TH E JEW S David L. Cooper, Supt. —Bible Classes and Personal Work, Street Meetings and Semi monthly Mass Meetings for Jews of Los Angeles. Meeting of April 25 N APRIL 25 at the regular Jewish meeting, Mr. W. E. Blackstone, the au th o r of “ Jesus is Coming," spoke to an audience numbering be tween 250 and 300. He used the Jew ish translation of the Old Testament, reading many and lengthy passages which tell of the glories of Israel, which passages he firmly believes will shortly be fulfilled in the soon coming of Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. Mrs. Beyne, as usual, sang her songs con cerning Zion with unushal effect. It was the concensus among those who expressed themselves that this meeting was one of the best, if not the best, which has been held in a long time. Lantern Pictures During the last month many homes have been opened up and invitations extended to us to bring the lantern and to give lectures on the Scriptures. Some of these places where the lec tures were given have been Jewish homes, and much good doubtless has been accomplished by the teaching of God’s Word in connection with the pictures of Biblical scenes. Every few days new Invitations are extended to us to bring the lantern and to show the pictures. At one meeting recently there were present 13 Jews and Jew esses, all of whom were adults. As a rule the Jewish people listen with rapt attention to the lecture given in connection with the pictures. Thus God is opening up great possibilities in many different directions for His Word. Classes Some classes are being held amo- the Jewish children, and as a rule are well attended. One class, however, which is being held in an orthodox Jewish home, has been discontinued because of opposition on the part of the man in whose home it has been held. His wife is very much inter ested, and showed her interest, which fact caused his prejudice and caused him to object to any more classes. This opposition, instead of decreasing the interest on the part of this Jewess, has rather increased it, and will prob- ably be used of God to bring her to a knowledge of the truth; Visitation Since the passover our visitation has become normal again, and many new homes have been entered and more literature has been given out than usual. In .this visitation work some
