When Juliana Skarecky Colwell first moved to Bourget and saw the old train station and the Bourget pavilion along the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail off of Levis Street, she immediately envisioned the open green space as a spot for the community to gather. Soon after, the Bourget Community Market was born. As a newcomer to the community, Skarec- ky-Colwell saw an opportunity to immediately get herself involved and give something back to her new home. “I moved here on the day of the wind storm, so I was able to meet my neighbours pretty quickly,” said Skarecky-Colwell. “But meeting others from the community took a little more time. I figured this might be a fun activity to be able to bring people together and support local businesses and community organizations.” A long-time resident of Ottawa, Skarecky- Colwell noticed not many people venture east from the city with most events taking place to Ottawa’s west. Though a one-off event for now, she hopes to inspire more events like it to draw people in and introduce them to what Bourget and the rest of Clarence-Rockland have to offer. “Bringing people out this way is kind of the hope, as well,” said Skarecky Colwell. Veiller à ce que le compte de taxes des contribuables demeure raisonnable en maintenant un niveau de taxation qui respecte la capacité de payer des citoyens. Bonifier l’offre récréative et culturelle et à améliorerla qualité des milieux de vie de la municipalité. Promouvoir une approche équilibrée du développement économique et de la gestion de l’environnement. Défendre l’accès locale aux services de santé mentale et de toxicomanie en plus d’améliorer la qualité des services offerts aux personnes âgées et aux personnes vivant avec un handicap.
Ensure that taxpayers' bills remain reasonable by maintaining a level of taxation that respects citizens' ability to pay. Enhance the recreational and cultural offerings and improve the quality of the municipality's living environments. Promote a balanced approach to economic development and environmental management. Advocate for local access to mental health and addiction services and improve the quality of services offered to seniors and people living with disabilities.
