About Royal Museums Greenwich are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Manager to join their Estates & Facilities Management team. Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG) is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. Reporting to the Senior Estates Manager, the postholder is responsible for maintaining and improving the efficient running of all sites and multiple buildings across the Royal Museums Greenwich Estate.
Key elements of the role will involve stewardship of nationally significant buildings including scheduled monuments and buildings within a UNESCO World Heritage Site; ensuring statutory, regulatory compliance and best practices are achieved and maintained; supporting the delivery of the capital investment programme; and being the technical authority in all mechanical and electrical buildings across the Royal Museums Greenwich Estate. Further core responsibilities include managing the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of all mechanical and electrical services across the Museum’s estate. As well as audit and advise on the performance of the M&E and specialist contractors; ensure value for money, best practice and innovation and risk management.

procurement process • To support the development of the mechanical and electrical budget • To support the development of reports, including utility budgets and energy reports. • To support the Museum in relevant works where required Project Delivery • Manage the delivery of multiple capital improvement projects on all sites within M&E, including major infrastructure projects to the value of up to £1 million, in line with the museums procurement policy, H&S policy, sustainability policy and operational needs. Including project and design management from inception to hand-over. • Advise and support colleagues and external professionals; consultants, architects, project managers, caterers etc. on special projects ensuring the RMG’s interests are met and to provide technical advice and information as required 3. Monitor and advise on the environmental control equipment, via the M&E term contractor, recommend areas of improvement. • Oversee the estates utility provision, including gas, electrical and water supplies to all sites. • Manage the efficient use of energy around the estate. Audit and report on usage, identify and implement energy saving measures to minimise expenditure and promote sustainability improvements. • To manage and maintain the portfolio of utility accounts, ensure regular and accurate payment against consumption. • Support in the preparation and procurement

Person Specification
Essential criteria: • Experience in Estates and Facilities Management at a similar level. • City and Guilds 2365 Part C, City and Guilds 2382-18, ONC, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 and/or experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building services, or equivalent is required • Management of Health and Safety and statutory compliance experience. • Project Management experience • Highly effective team worker and departmental ambassador with strong communication skills • The ability to accurately manage budgets. • Competent at MS Office, CAFM and BMS packages • An agile approach, with the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances • To be calm under pressure and able to prioritise workload • Demonstratable commitment to sustainability Desirable criteria: • Project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 • Experience of working on heritage estates, including Scheduled Monuments • Membership of relevant professional bodies • Knowledge of structural fabric • Be prepared to be flexible in meeting the demands of the role, as the role may involve some evening and occasional weekend work.
