LET’S RIDE — SAFELY Reminders for Motorcyclists and Drivers This Summer

To start, if it’s been a few months since your last ride, check your bike. Look for signs of degrading mechanical features, deflated tires, and lights that are burned out. Take a small trip around the block to get a feel for your motorcycle again. And don’t forget to “re-up” your insurance! When some riders take a break from their bike, they often cancel their insurance policies. Forgetting to activate it again could leave you in a lurch after an accident. Once you’re ready to ride, don’t forget the proper gear. You need a secure, hard helmet. It should feel snug, and it should not “wiggle” on your head. Wear bright colors, and always cover your limbs. This will protect your skin in an accident. For theMotorist Motorcyclists have a right to use the roadways like any other vehicle operator, and it’s

imperative that motorists be vigilant as well. Because of the vehicle’s size, motorcycles can easily slip into blind spots. Check your blind spot before changing lanes to prevent any accidents. Be mindful when following a motorcyclist, too! These vehicles can stop more abruptly than most cars, so if you’re following too close behind them, you could rear-end a rider. And be extra cautious at night. Again, because these vehicles are smaller, it can be difficult for other motorists to see motorcycles. When in doubt of what you see, use extra caution and slow down. This is extremely important at intersections, which can be dangerous for all drivers. If an accident between a car and a motorcycle leaves you injured, our team at Brauns Law can help you get the compensation you deserve. Call the number at the bottom of this newsletter for a consultation. Stay safe, and enjoy the ride!

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month — and for good reason. While we may enjoy warm weather all year in Georgia, the world to the north of us is just thawing out. That means more motorcyclists are hitting the road and taking cross-country adventures. But before you take off on your bike or cruise past riders in your car, heed these safety warnings. For theMotorcyclist Few experiences can compare to the freedom of riding down the open road, but perhaps what takes the cake is the feeling of knowing you are doing so safely.
