Fire at the Hotel Fire Prevention
Most fires are the result of carelessness, so we need to do everything we can to be alerted to fire, life and safety rules to significantly reduce the possibility of a fire. These include: • Never smoke in ‘No Smoking Areas. • Never knock or block fire extinguishers, fire hoses and hydrants • Never block passageways. • Never block fire exits/emergency staircases. • Report damage to firefighting equipment immediately • Keep boxes and rubbish away from the building. • Keep flammable liquids tightly sealed when not in use. • Shut the valves of gas cylinders/stoves when not in use. • Keep all equipment and your workplace clean and tidy. • Remove the day’s waste, leftover material, and trash collection to the appropriate garbage collection area. • Never let dirt, paint and oil deposits build up. • Report temperatures and pressures that are too high to your Service Leader immediately. • Never use equipment beyond stipulated limits • Never leave machinery, stoves, or deep fryers unattended • Do not leave dirty rags lying around. • Do not place items close to heat e.g., linen on top of bulbs, spotlights, etc. • Before going home, ensure all equipment is switched off. In Case of a Fire When a fire is discovered, no matter how small it is, you must do the following: • Raise the alarm by breaking the nearest ‘Fire Break Glass Call Point’. These are located near hose reels. • Inform the telephone operator by dialing ‘0’ on the telephone. Assembly Points In cases of fire, all guests and colleagues must evacuate the building and immediately go to the Assembly Point situated in front of Al Meraikhi Tower building main entrance facing the car park.
