Learning and Development Opportunities

Besides the compulsory training that you will attend in order to be able to be successful in your current job, there are many opportunities that will support your personal and professional development. Please ask your Departmental Trainer or a representative from the Training Department for further information. Leadership Programs These programs are designed to give potential leaders the skills they need to manage and lead people. Cross Department Training Is where an employee undergoes training within his/her own hotel but in another department. Once you have been in your current job for one year you may be eligible to participate in cross training. The training is done in your own time and is unpaid. It gives you the opportunity to learn and gain new skills and knowledge. If you wish to learn more about Cross Department Training, refer to Training Policy THR 19 or speak to our Training Team. Taskforce Other Shangri-La Hotels sometimes need help when they are in their pre-opening stage or when busy. You may be selected to assist in the pre-opening of a property or asked to volunteer to make up part of a taskforce because of your specialized skills / knowledge. Shangri-La Academy Online We have a Learning Experiential platform where colleagues can access various e-learning modules. Internal and external courses, workshops, and conferences Colleagues in certain positions may be invited to attend annual workshops and conferences to enhance their knowledge and skills in their field of specialization.

Performance Management Performance Development Review (OKR)

Throughout the year you will receive on-going informal feedback. At least once a year you will be given an opportunity to formally meet with your direct manager to discuss your performance. Before you meet face-to-face you will be asked to do a self-assessment to determine how you are going. Your manager will do the same. When you meet you will agree on your performance rating.
