GUIDE TO CORRECTIVE BEHAVIOUR & DISCIPLINARY ACTION

1. Introduction

1.1

Overview

Shangri-La Dubai believes that its most important asset is its human resources. The role of Management is to establish policies and procedures designed to improve the quality of work life in the Hotel. The aim is to address and sufficiently provide for the needs of employees while at the same time, establish the standards of discipline and professionalism required by employees in achieving service excellence. The rules and regulations contained in this Guide are geared towards the achievement of these objectives. The Guide provides a mechanism through which expected norms of conduct are clearly defined to ensure consistency, objectivity, and efficiency in managing the Hotel. Further, the Guide serves as a communication tool designed to instill discipline, harmony, and fairness in handling employees. It is therefore a very effective reminder of what we continuously aim to become, a First Choice Employer, and an organization that has respect and consideration for one another.

Objective

The Guide aims to promote, ensure and achieve the following:

1.2.1 To understand and internalize the conduct expected of Shangri-La Dubai employees.

1.2.2

To ensure consistency in disciplinary actions.

1.2.3 To provide constructive measures for employees to understand and learn from their mistakes.

1.2.4 To ensure the promotion of fairness and equality in the treatment of its employees.

1.3

Scope

This Guide to Corrective Behavior and Disciplinary Matters shall apply to all employees of Shangri-La Dubai and as most of us are sponsored as residents in this country, the scope of policy addresses issues beyond the confines of the Hotel and in accordance with local rules and regulations.
