planned ahead, purchasing all of the main building materials at the start of the project to safeguard against building materials becoming unavailable due to supply chain issues. To minimise the environmental impact of the build, the team: reused all excavated ground for landscaping; separated and recycled all packaging, plastics, wood, and metal waste locally; purchased building stone from a local quarry, reducing the carbon footprint of transportation; and used only local suppliers.
Project overview The client wanted a detached, four-bedroom, new-build home for their family that was sustainably built with minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Designed by Sam Wilson Architect and built by DLE Construction Ltd in Yorkshire & Trent, the result is a modern, open-living home in Halifax that lets in plenty of natural light.
