Seth Barton of Neways Group Ltd in Norfolk was named the national Apprentice of the Year. He is a carpentry apprentice studying through City College Norwich. A bit about Seth Barton Barton, now 17, began working at Neways Group Ltd as a 16-year-old labourer and assistant. He began his formal carpentry apprenticeship this year. Outside of construction, Corporal Barton is an active member of his local army cadets and has performed the Duty of Standard Barrier at the Memorial Day Parade, earning praise from the British Legion. His persistence paid off and he is now thriving. With a 100% attendance record at work and class – despite the distance he needs to travel – Barton frequently shows himself to be a tenacious young person with a firm focus on future success. He even sold the idea to a client of using leftover building materials from their home renovation to create a unique piece of furniture. The client loved the idea and commissioned the extra work.
