Chris Shaw of T D G Contracts in the North West of England has been named the Heavenly Builder of the Year. Why Shaw is 2023’s Heavenly Builder The client needed to extend their home to make space for their nephew, three- year-old Arlo, whose mum unexpectedly died in August 2021. Arlo, who has autism and complex needs, required a safe, comfortable space to live in. With a very tight budget – one that could not cover the work required – Chris Shaw of T D G Contracts stepped in and delivered the build. Shaw built, carpeted and decorated a new en-suite bedroom and created a safe, paved outdoor area to make the garden more secure. Shaw put out a call for help to fellow tradespeople. He asked for bricklayers, roofers, joiners, electricians and plumbers to offer services to the family for free. They did.
