2023 MASTER BUILDER AWARDS
Not every project or person can win an award, but sometimes submissions are so impressive that special mention is required. These are the four Highly Commended of 2023 Close contender S
House Builder Project – Home Republic Ltd Project overview This new build home in London’s Wimbledon was cleverly designed to create a natural end to the terrace between two main streets. Sustainability was a priority, with solar panels on the roof, high-spec insulation and ventilation, and a rainwater connection system under the road. From the client “Alex and the team worked with me to build a house from scratch in Wimbledon. They were hard-working, clean, personable and did an amazing job. The project was seamless and the result was so good that people knocked on my door after the project was complete asking for the builder’s details. There is no better recommendation than that.”
Small Renovation Project – James Wylie Building & Joinery Project details
A client in Ballyclare wanted to transform their kitchen in their three-storey home from a small and dark space into a light and spacious hub for cooking, eating and socialising with friends and family. The roof lantern lets in natural light, while artificial lighting along a unique bulkhead illuminates the kitchen island, giving the illusion of size. The biggest challenge was creating the opening between the kitchen and new extension, which required a large and heavy steel frame box design – meaning the wall had to be removed completely before fitting the steel. From the judges “Every product and material used enhances the overall finish. The extension is spacious and full of light, transforming how the clients use the ground floor of their home.”
Building Company of the Year – Lofthouse Residences Ltd Notable achievements A relatively young company with just three years of trading, Lofthouse Residences Ltd in Hampshire now has six employees. Effective branding, marketing and innovation has made this business stand out to customers. The team enjoys competitive remuneration, recognition for work well done, and incentives to keep them motivated. From the judges “Clearly a very well run business with a clear vision and strong financial awareness. They’ve used technology effectively, too, with virtual walkarounds and drones to keep clients informed about progress on each of the projects.”
Medium Renovation Project – NMC NI Contracts Ltd
Project overview NMC NI Contracts Ltd
transformed a 1930s carriage house in the garden of a Belfast home into a self-contained living area and enhanced the surrounding area through ground works. High ceilings, brass fittings, hardwood floors and sandstone paving make this a beautiful and highly functional space. From the judges “Fabulous to see a building brought back to life. Great value, too, considering the level of finishes. Beautifully renovated and extended, with great workmanship and quality finishes.”
