ENGAGING CUSTOMERS THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT BIOS by Tanya Chedrawy

I nterestingly, one of the things I get asked to do a lot is to write website bios. I hear common things like, “I don’t know what to say” “I don’t think I’m interesting” or “What should I say?” If this sounds familiar, don’t fret you are definite - ly not alone. Now, I don’t know about you but the first thing I do when I’m about to give my money to someone for a service or collaborate with them on a proj - ect—I read their bio. I want to know who I’m con- sidering working with or contracting. Conveying who you are and what your super - power is in a compelling way is essential and it shouldn’t be daunting. After all, who knows you better than you? Since we are stuck home there is no better time to do some house cleaning and update the content of your website and yes-the dreaded BIO!

Even if you can’t hire an expert for content writing, here are some tips you can use to do it yourself: • A bio is not a CV. Don’t simply list your education and work experience, that’s boring. • It shouldn’t be more than about three short paragraphs. • A bio is a succinct story of who you are and why people should care. This can include your current position and the value you bring; show your values through associations, hobbies or volunteer work; who you are outside of work; a funny or poignant story about yourself; and an achievement and or education. • You are more interesting than you realize. Do you have an anecdote to share? Do you have an offbeat hobby? Have you climbed Mount Kilimanjaro? Are you a closeted nerd like me? Have you won the Nobel Peace Prize? See where I’m going with this? Convey a cool tidbit or fact about yourself, it makes you infinitely more interesting and human and most importantly notable. Need more tips or someone to work with to develop your perfect bio then reach out to me at tanya@tanyamedia.com I would be happy to help you out.
