Target attainment in the previous years solely relates to the production sites.
• E5-3, T2 | The target of reducing total waste to 5,303 tonnes by 2025/26 was exceeded, with the figure standing at 4,612 tonnes. This achievement can be attributed to lower waste levels at the former production site in Les Andelys and a reduction in waste at the majority of production sites • E5-3, T3 | The target of reducing non-recyclable waste to 535 tonnes in 2025/26 was ex- ceeded, with the actual figure standing at 379 tonnes because a facility at the production site in Les Andelys had not yet been dismantled • E5-3, T4 | The target of reducing the volume of production waste from non-renewable materials by 9.2% relative to material consumption by 2025/26 was not achieved. One of the reasons for this lies in changes to the production processes
Waste metrics [E5-5]
The resulting waste streams generated by the Zumtobel Group are calculated and recorded for each production site. The rele- vant waste streams from the sites consist of metal waste, paper/cardboard/packaging, wood packaging/wood waste, plastics and electronic scrap/LED boards. The bulk of non-hazardous waste and recyclable mate- rial therefore consists of materials such as metals, cardboard/paper, wood and plastics, which are processed externally for recyc- ling. Residual waste accounts for a small proportion of this waste and is primarily ther- mally processed. The very low proportion of hazardous waste consisting of solutions, waste oils, coolants and lubricants, adhesive residues from joining processes, and paint residues from coating processes and mixtu- res is predominantly recycled. Only a small proportion thereof is thermally processed. The Zumtobel Group does not produce any radioactive waste. Due to the importance of the production sites, the following table lists the waste generated by the production sites. Sales offices are not included in the figures here due to their immateriality.
Waste and recyclable materials are normal- ly collected from the production sites by registered disposal companies. As part of this process, the waste disposal companies issue collection certificates and/or credit notes, which are made available to the per- sons responsible. This procedure ensures compliance with local legal requirements. Waste volumes are recorded in waste inven- tories based on the defined waste classes and categories. The totals are recorded on a monthly basis in the global Environmental Report, broken down by waste categories and streams. This process collects local data for the Zumtobel Group, which is then aggregated into a metric.
Waste composition
Metal processing, plastics processing, coa- ting, automated production lines and manual product assembly are the key manufacturing processes that generate most of the Zumto- bel Group’s waste and recyclable materials.
