Analysis of the resilience of the strategy and the business model
This analysis is based on the Group-wide climate risk and vulnerability assessment and considers the resilience of the Zumtobel Group as a whole to climate change. From an exclusively climate-related perspective, climate change does not currently have a material negative impact on the assets or production sites of the Zumtobel Group. The Zumtobel Group’s production sites are not located in or in the direct vicinity of biodi- versity-sensitive areas. Detailed information on the methodology, the climate scenarios used and the results of the resilience ana- lysis in relation to climate-related changes is set out in Section ‘Resilience analysis | E1, SBM-3’. Further material non-climate-related risks were identified and assessed separately as part of the Double Materiality Assess- ment. These include, in particular, a material financial risk related to the potential loss of key knowledge holders, for example due to retirement-related departures. Correspon- ding mitigation measures are described in chapter S1.
The Zumtobel Group operates on the basis of a robust business strategy that places a focus on long-term business success and sustainability. A Group-wide resilience ana- lysis forms an integral part of the strategic management process and of the integrated management system. The resilience of the strategy and business model is assessed based on the ability to manage material im- pacts and risks and to capitalise on material opportunities. Based on the analyses conducted, the Zum- tobel Group’s strategy and business model are, from today’s perspective, resilient and capable of withstanding future climate-re- lated changes and the associated transition and physical risks. Transition risks have been assessed with a time horizon of ten ye- ars (starting from the 2024/25 financial year) but focus on the next five years (up to 2030). Transition risks are identified and assessed as part of the context analysis and double materiality assessment with the involvement of internal specialist departments, based on the assumption of global warming of 1.5 °C. In addition, short-, medium- and long-term impacts of physical climate events are ana- lysed in terms of risks and opportunities and taken into consideration when identifying material sustainability matters.
