SCTE Broadband - May 2025

Thoughts from the SCTE

Melissa Cogavin The SCTE occupies a unique place in the minds of the industry and that is apparent every time I produce an article for Broadband Journal or see the engagement at the events we organise. It is reflective of the industry as a whole, which is characterised by a great sense of community, genuine warmth and generosity and a desire to learn, to not stay still, to connect with each other, and I see the SCTE playing an important part in the future as it has done so well in the past

COSTAS KYRIACOU From when I became a member of the SCTE in the late 1990’s, originally I joined to attend the lectures, obtain the excellent knowledge and information in the broadband magazine and to meet likeminded engineers, to swap ideas on new and current technology and improve my understanding on all technology related to Cable TV, telecommunications and broadband. As a member for nearly 30 years my perspective has changed. Although, the Lectures and Broadband are still important to me and an excellent source for information, my colleagues have now become my close friends. I find myself looking forward to the SCTE® Presents days more to catch up with friends and colleagues, meeting new upcoming engineers at the start of their careers making new friends.

Alex Nau As a newly elected member to the executive committee, The SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) is a fantastic organisation shaping the future of the broadband and telecom sector. As a learned society, we actively engage with key industry leaders to foster motivation and collaboration across the telecom sector. With its rich history and diverse membership, the society provides an exciting platform for discussion, innovation and the exchange of industry perspectives.

Beverley Walker Congratulations to the SCTE on achieving an incredible milestone in its illustrious history - 80 years of excellent service to the broadband industry and all those associated with it. It has been a pleasure and an honour to have worked with the SCTE for over three decades now, to see it grow, prosper and enrich the working lives of our individual members and provide a useful promotional and networking platform for our corporate members. The next 20 years will undoubtedly bring new challenges and opportunities for the broadband industry and we look forward to the SCTE embracing these and to celebrating its Centenary in 2045! Love to all my special SCTE friends too.
