Y13 Bulletin 15.09.23

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 13

It was wonderful to welcome Year 13 back to school after the summer holidays. I hope they had the chance to rest and recharge for another busy year ahead, which will also be their last one of their compulsory education. Students have already started their timetabled lessons and have settled into their routines very quickly. Mr Bannister led the Year 13 Induction session with UCAS applications being the key focus. Students were reminded of all the key information needed to ensure a successful application, including what additional details they need to include in their applications to help them stand out and be successful. We have also shared all of Year 13 all the essential information regarding the admissions tests which a number of students need to be entered for. We have asked all students to fill in the relevant google form by Friday 22 September. As a reminder to students, parents and carers, the deadline for early entry applicants is 15 October and for all remaining applicants is 31 January. There are a number of extra curricular clubs already starting up. This is a perfect opportunity for students to try something new this year. Click here to view the Autumn 2023 extracurricular timetable. We are inviting in parents and carers of our Geography students on Monday for an information evening regarding the upcoming field trip to Barcelona. The details of this event have already been shared with all relevant parties. There will also be an information evening on Tuesday, which is open to all parents and carers of Year 13 students. This meeting will be in relation to the UCAS process and will offer the opportunity to ask any questions you may have with regards to your child’s application to University.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

This book is written from the perspective of Charlie through letter entries, following him and his friends through their challenging navigation through high school and life. It’s a moving and honest story.

DRAMA DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

Please can we kindly ask for parents/carers picking up and dropping off their children in cars to be considerate of the neighbourhood and their street policies in place for parking. You may incur a Penalty Charge Notice if you are found to be contravening the on street parking restrictions. PARKING NOTICE FROM THE COUNCIL

We are really excited to be rehearsing our latest school production, Annie. As ever parental support would be very much appreciated. In particular we hope someone may have a free standing door frame with a door in it to donate as part of the set design. The help of a theatre lighting expert to offer specialist advice would also be very welcome.
