Students and staff members of Holy Trinity High School put on their bowling shoes and took part in this year’s Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Bowl For Kids Sake, held on February 6. In all, the teammanaged to raise over $1000 in pledges. The event was held at Olympia Bowling and Nativity Lanes in Cornwall, as well as in Chesterville. “The money raised goes directly into the seven free mentoring programs that are offered to families in Cornwall and SD & G,” explained Amanda Brisson, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall and District. “We have over 120 children waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister.” The Tim Hortons’ Bowl for Kids Sake event, previously known as the Bowl-for- Millions event, has been happening for 39 years. Last year’s event raised just over $65,000, with 198 teams and 1000 bowlers taking part in it. — supplied photo

Local artist Barbara Mason will soon have a few of her paintings on display at City Hall, including her piece, The Creek , through the Art of the City program. The program is designed to showcase the strength of the city’s visual artists by providing space in City Hall and other city facilities to display pieces of original art by local artists. Participating artists benefit from the exposure gained by having their work displayed in public spaces, while the City benefits from having its venues enhanced with beautiful displays of art. Artists from Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry can apply to participate in the program on a voluntary basis. — supplied photo New artist at City Hall
