ISRAEL ANNOUNCES IT’S NOW OPEN FOR TOURISM

and Head of Marketing Administration, reflected on the recent events, particularly the events of October 7, 2023, in the Gaza area. He expressed optimism about the resurgence of tourism in Israel, noting that Ben Gurion Airport is now fully operational. Reports further added that major cities like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Dead Sea, and Galilee are now bustling with activity day and night, and attracting thousands of tourists who come to express solidarity, pray, visit, and enjoy the attractions of the ‘land of

milk and honey. Shani further added that this influx of tourists encourages and strengthens the Israeli public’s desire to resume touring and travelling. As regarding safety which remains a top priority for Israel, Shani reassured potential visitors that all tourist areas, including Jerusalem, Galilee, Tiberias, Negev, Dead Sea, and Eilat, are completely safe. He encouraged tourists to join in demonstrating that the tourism industry serves as a bridge between people and contributes to peace. This declaration of Israel being

open for tourism marks a significant step towards the country’s recovery from recent adversities. It signals a renewed sense of optimism within the tourism industry. As travellers once again flock to Israel’s historic sites, vibrant cities, and picturesque landscapes, they contribute not only to the country’s economy, but also to the promotion of peace and understanding among nations.

development, Israel made an announcement this month, declaring itself “now open for tourism”. Over the past few months, the region’s conflict, with Israel at its epicentre, rendered the country virtually and technically off-limits for tourists. As per the latest news reports, flights to Tel Aviv were suspended during this period, but airlines are now gradually resuming services. Pini Shani, Israel Tourism’s Deputy Director-General

Ministry announced. A pilot program, with the NIS 25 ($7) fee waived, launched for travelers from the US and Germany and will extend to all visa-exempt countries on July 1. Travelers are advised to apply 72 hours before booking flights and lodging. The ETA-IL program is similar to others that have been put in place in recent years in Europe, the US, Australia and New Zealand. Their goal is to screen out travelers suspected of posing a security threat or of potentially violating tourist

visa restrictions through work or overstaying before they land at ports of entry. Most countries that have launched similar programs advise a 72-hour heads-up, although the authorization frequently arrives via email within hours. The US warns that people who do not apply in advance for travel authorization can face delays boarding flights or be turned away at the border, even if they come from countries that participate in the US visa- waiver program. (Israel was

added to the program only last September.) Citizens of visa-exempt countries who are citizens or permanent residents of Israel are not required to request authorization. Citizens of non-exempt countries will still need to complete a more arduous visa application process. The authorization will last for two years and will allow multiple entries of up to 90 days.

TEL-AVIV MUSEUM IS RANKED AMONG THE TOP 100 MOST POPULAR ART MUSEUMS IN THE WORLD

T he Tel-Aviv Museum ranked 75th on the list of the 100 most popular art museums in the world with the highest number of visitors in 2023 the 6th year of inclusion in the prestigious list. The annual ranking published in the international art magazine The Art Newspaper includes the number of visitors to museums all over the world. In the challenging year of 2023, the Tel-Aviv Museum welcomed a staggering nearly one million visitors – 906,350 in total. This remarkable turnout places it among world-renowned institutions such as the Guggenheim, MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the British Museum, and Tate Modern in London. At the pinnacle of the rankings stand the Vatican and the Louvre

Museum in Paris, boasting the highest number of visitors globally. Tania Coen Uzzielli, Director of the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art: “It is exciting and significant to win international recognition these days and to be placed among the leading museums in the world. This achievement gains additional validity in light of the fact that the museum was closed to the public for two whole months with the outbreak of the war. I am grateful to the large crowd of visitors who chose to come to the Tel- Aviv Museum of Art and who continue to visit even in these difficult times. Thanks to them and to the creative and valuable work of the museum staff, we continue to be committed to presenting the best local and international art.”
