Celebrations in June 2023 honoured the first Caribbean-born, UWI-trained scientist to lead the SRC, Trinidad & Tobago’s Prime Minister, The Honourable Dr. Keith Rowley. Royal Visit During his state visit to Trinidad & Tobago, the St. Augustine Campus warmly welcomed His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of Ghana. The 16th Asantehene of the Asante Kingdom delivered a compelling Distinguished Open Lecture, attended by the Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, addressing colonialism’s overlooked impacts. As the Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, His Majesty promotes education, health, industry, and international collaborations. The UWI Cave Hill Campus previously awarded him an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 2008 for his dedication to advancing African universities.
