Over this life-changing weekend, students were challenged to see their world through the lens of Jesus’ work on the cross. Word of Life continued to present their passion for equipping each generation to reach their generation with the Gospel of Christ. Challenging students to dream big and to expect a breakthrough, Steve Richardson, Director of Pioneers-USA, shared stories of when his family first left their comfortable home in the United States to leap into the mission field. With baby Steve in their arms, they stepped foot on a remote village located in Papua New Guinea, where the people were known for headhunting and had never heard the name of Jesus. This beginning ignited Steve to live a life of missions, and with excitement in his eyes, he exclaimed how living a life on mission, no matter where you are, is the only fulfilling way to live. Allow God not just to be your co-pilot, but allow him to pilot every day, every decision, and every step of your life. Word of Life’s own Kris Stout who serves as Vice President of Local Church Ministries and International Ministries shared his heart for missions in another session. He shared the astounding math on discipleship. If just one person discipled one person after accepting Christ so that they became a disciple-making disciple, and that person did the same each year, in the next 40 years this world, with a population of 7 billion people, could be wholly reached with the gospel. Though theoretical, this statistic puts into perspective the importance of intentional relationships. Kris explained our circles of contact – our Comfort Circles, our Community Circles, and our Great Commission Circles. He implored students to get out of their comfort circles and get into their Great Commission circles. Christians need to live lives that are intentionally bold and gospel-centered, but so often Christians live as comfortable, complacent cowards. Many students stood up and went forward when asked if they wanted to give all they ever have and all they ever hope to be to the hands of their Savior Jesus Christ. Where will you decide to stand? Will you live in your comfort circle, or will you take the step of faith to your Great Commission circle? This conference is not merely a missions cheerleading session, but this conference is meant to stir up this generation to reach its generation with the greatest news ever told: The Gospel.
