Q: What is it like to minister behind the scenes all the time? A: There are moments that hold the feeling of great accomplishment, and there are moments that are really challenging. Ministering behind the scenes is about finding joy and contentment in the simple truths of God’s Word. It’s about knowing and reminding myself and those working alongside me that these are the people and this is the place which God has called us to serve in this moment. Q: What type of interactions do you get to have through your job? A: In my job, I get to have interactions with visitors, campers, students, and staff. It’s unique to be able to experience such a wide variety of interaction with so many people. Q: What encouragement do you have for those who are called to minister in ways that may go unnoticed? A: It’s not going to be easy. You will have moments of discouragement, but you can make a difference, even though it may seem small to you. God rewards faithfulness! “For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.” -Hebrews 6:10 Q: How does what you believe affect how you serve? A: My faith in God affects everything I do. One area that my faith has a real impact is in my work ethic. I don’t think that I would have such a drive for excellence in service if not for my understanding of who God is and what He has done for me. Q: What have you gained from your time spent serving at the BI? A: I think that while it is important to do my job with excellence, what is most important is caring for and ministering to those I serve and serve with. Q: What do you do when you don’t feel like serving anymore? A: I can’t even count how many times it gets difficult to balance everything that life throws my way. It’s crazy to see how God works, reminding me that I can’t balance it all on my own- it’s only through Him that I can manage it all.
