Since early 2020, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia has been at the forefront of the nonprofit community’s response to COVID-19, with our staff and state-wide network of volunteer caseworkers allowing us to respond immediately and adeptly to the pandemic and its economic repercussions. While requests for help have increased nearly 40% during this time , so too did the financial assistance and safety net services that we were able to provide. As those in our communities faced furloughs, extended unpaid sick leave, unemployment and other financial setbacks, SVdP Georgia provided over $ 12.9 million of direct financial aid for rent, utilities, mortgage, medical bills and more to 30,706 households . We also provided more than $4.6 million of in-kind assistance such as food and other necessities, helping over 172,000 neighbors in need across the state. Each of these neighbors who call on us for help has a unique story to tell. These brave people are sharing their stories with you in hopes that you will understand some of the barriers they face and perhaps be inspired by their effort to build a better future for themselves and their families.
