SUNDAY SCHOOL continued of anger that he was smitten with leprosy by the Lord. This severe judgment rested upon him until the day of his death (v. 21). God is a God of order. In the sacred services of the temple He had ordained what should be done and b y whom . For the leader of the people to violate this order was a most serious thing. God would not tolerate it. Hence the judgment. It is a serious thing to trifle with God’s Word. Helps for the Children When a King Did Right 2 Chr. 26 MEMORY VERSE: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Prov. 3:5). You remember that some of the kings who ruled God’s people were evil, and some did that which was right in God’s sight. King Uzziah pleased God in the first years of his reign. As long as Uzziah trusted in God, his kingdom was blessed and peaceful. Just when God was greatly prospering Uzziah, the great king became proud and began to trust in his own wis dom and might rather than relying upon God as he had done in the past. Uzziah sinned b y doing things in the temple which God had said that only the priests should do. God punished the wicked king with a terrible disease which lasted until his death. One of God’s commands is: “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” As long as those who know the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour trust in Him, their lives are happy and blessed. Some times when Christians become wealthy or become popular and famous they forget to trust in God. They become proud and do not think that they need to pray for strength and wisdom. God’s W ord says, “ Pride goeth . . . before a fall.” Those who turn from God can never be truly successful in life. May 22, 1955 Hezekiah deserves to be remembered as one of the greatest kings in Judah’s his tory. He was interested in revival. He was a man of prayer. He sought the unity of God’s people. His life was con sistent. The Invitation of Hezekiah vv. 1, 6-9 It had been a long time since there had been a regular observance of the passover feast. It was the desire of Hezekiah, king of Judah, that this feast be observed again in all of its solemnity. Not only was he desirous that Judah observe it. He also sent letters of invitation to “ Ephraim and Manasseh” or the Northern King dom. His invitation to both Israel and Judah urged a turning unto the Lord in order to obtain divine blessing (v. 6). He warned them not to be like their fore fathers who were so stiffnecked that they A Ministry of Reconciliation 2 Chr. 30:1, 6-13 Pointers on the Lesson
