Recycling and Sustainability GIA Says Goodbye to Single-Use Plastic Bags In a bold move towards environmental stewardship, we eliminated single-use plastic bags across all retail stores in the fall 2024. This initiative will prevent nearly 3.5 million plastic bags from entering landfills annually, significantly reducing waste and protecting wildlife. “By transitioning to reusable bags, our customers become true partners in our journey to protect the environment,” said Brian Marsh, GIA President and CEO. To support this transition, GIA began offering branded reusable bags for purchase at checkout and encourages customers to bring their own reusable bags. GIA Receives Arkansas Recycling Coalition Community Involvement Award The Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) presented GIA with the Community Involvement Award during the Arkansas Recycling Coalition’s 33rd Annual Conference & Trade Show. Each year this educational event attracts many professionals in the reduce, reuse, recycle and sustainability field from around the state and nation. This award honors a company/agency/association who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability in Arkansas over the past year.
