Word of Life Pines

A rustic campground with family-centered programming and captivating speakers

“This past summer I had the privilege of working at The Pines, I was one of the people in charge of the kids’ program for 4 and 5-year-old’s and I absolutely loved it! Three weeks into camp I got the news that my grandmother had passed away, and then three weeks after that I got news that my step-brother had passed as well. Needless to say the summer was really hard and all I wanted to do was retreat and seclude myself, but I knew I couldn’t do that because I had kids I needed to teach and two girls relying on me to disciple them. So, instead of doing what the flesh wanted to do, I asked God to help me. He did, he gave me just enough strength to get through each day and just taught me so much through it and I still had an amazing summer! I can honestly say that my faith grew so much through that time and I believe that through each trial comes a lesson. You just have to be willing to learn.

“I’ve been going to The Pines since I was 7 and have worked there my past three summers, with this upcoming summer being my fourth and final summer. The biggest thing that I’ve noticed through my years at The Pines is that families come there for renewal. To the campers, it is an oasis, a place to regroup and regather as they go on to handle another school year, another year at work, etc. The Pines gives moms and dads the guidance they need and the rejuvenation they need to become better parents and to raise godly young men and women. The Pines gives husbands and wives a week to destress and learn more on how to love one another and show the beauty of marriage to an outside world. The Pines gives families the spiritual renewal they need to go back to their homes, their schools, their lives, and be stronger Christians and better equipped to handle the daily stresses of life. So, while The Pines may not see a teen or child’s life changed as often as other camps, we see the very foundation of society – the family – strengthened and encouraged to live for Christ in every area of life, and that is what I love about The Pines.
