Word of Life Bible Institute Yearbook 2017

THE Magi Tour was an extremely challeng- ing and spiritually impactful undertaking for all involved. The Magi Tour toured around the coun- try for ten full days of singing, playing, and act- ing. Magi portrayed fictional characters around the time of Jesus’ crucifixion in Jerusalem that brought a realness and relatability to the Bibli- cal account. Voices of Victory (VoV), The Unseen Band One, and the Magi Drama Team all played a different yet integral part of the production. Hannah Kitchen, Vocalist for VoV, told about the blessings and hardships of being on the Magi Tour. For the Magi Tour, Kitchen said that it was more about living out the songs that they sang on and off the stage. Another great part of being on the Tour was the interacting with people before and after per- formances. Kitchen commented that it was “cool to get to see how God worked in their lives after every performance.” Kitchen got to hear the same mes- sage in the same way every single night for ten days straight, but Kitchen enjoyed the fact that the Gos- pel message never got old. Kitchen said, “To be able to be a part of Magi and all of that in general was a great opportunity and a wonderful experience.” For Jordan Bermudez, electric guitarist for the Unseen Band One, Magi was extremely chal- lenging. Due to some unforeseen external pres- sures, the first three days of Magi were draining.

With being up at 6 or 7 A.M. until 1 A.M., the tour can take a lot out of each and every band member. Bermudez shared that going to hosts’ homes was a great opportunity to “go and to be the Gospel to them also…” Bermudez contin- ued to discuss what was so great about going to a hosts’ home: “When we go to a host home… it’s, hey, let me pour into your life and really see what’s going on… and [to] be ‘Jesus’ to these people… and to show what love really looks like.” Laurel Flegge, actress for the Magi Drama Team, talked about the immense blessing that Magi was in her life. Due to prior health risks that started when she was a younger teen, Flegge knew that going on Magi was a health risk as well as a spir- itual challenge. God taught her what a Biblical community looked like, humility in needing help and asking for it, and the importance of His Word when spiritually drained. Flegge said, “We could not have done what we did without the strength of God’s word and the strength God gave us through each other. It truly was an incredible experience.” Magi Tour was not just beneficial to the audience, but also to the teams involved. The Tour taught each and every member the importance of living out God’s Word everywhere, to love people like Je- sus would, and how to rely on fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Even though this tour was only ten days long, the lessons learned will last a lifetime.
