“Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succee d ing at something that doesn’t really matter.” (D.L. Moody) So our question should be, “What really DOES matter?” 1 John 2:15-17 says, “Do n o t love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers o n ly a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievemen t s and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world i s fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” You can spend “your” life striving to reach your goals and to fulfill your d e sires, but what really matters is investing “your” life (which really belongs to God) into what p l eases God. So what pleases God? Knowing Him, agreeing with Him, and becoming like Him. God is l ovingly giving you breath to do these things. Make the choice today t o use each breath His way…and then make the same choice tomorrow…and then the next day…and contin u e choosing that each day until we see Him face to face and hear the most importan t words, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

Though I am a staff member this year, I am also a student. There is a time to teach and a time to listen and learn. I hope to always do both. One thing I have learned this year is, “to have a local love and an international heartbeat”. I am thankful that my immutable God allows my sinful heart to grow and change into the likeness of His son. I pray He gives us all a love for the people near and far.
