PIA Announces President’s Conference Schedule Printing Industries of America has announced the speaker lineup for the 2017 President’s Confer- ence running March 12–15, 2017, in Long Beach, California. Gerry O’Brion, founder of What Big Brands Know, will kick off the event with a session on navigating and leveraging change to a company’s business advantage. Cheryl Kahanec, Executive Vice President, Digital, Earth Color will lead a panel of industry executives as they share secrets and business success stories. John U. Bacon, commentator, author, and award-win- ning speaker, will share leadership fundamentals he has learned in his years working with top coaches. Duane Cashin, entrepreneur and sales coach, will re- veal his methods for obtaining peak sales performance. Scott Hunter, CEO of Unshackled Leadership, will present his plan for creating an “outrageously suc- cessful” organization. Sun Chemical has entered into a partnership with Toronto, Canada-based Young Flexographic to pro- vide packaging printers across Canada with quick ac- cess to conventional, high definition and flat-top-dot printing plates. Founded by Jas. R.Young (Jim) in 1978,Young Flex- ographic Ltd. is said to offer flexo expertise with “full spectrum service.” Young Flexographic also has an ongoing relation- ship with SunGraphics, Sun Chemical’s printing plates division, which will allow for sharing of re- sources and insights. PIA Opens Nominations For Environmental Award Printing Industries of America (PIA) opened nomi- nations for the William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2017. The Schaeffer Award recipient recognized at PIA’s Spring Administrative Meetings on April 29, 2017. Established in 1990, this award is named for envi- ronmental pioneer and researcher, Dr. William D. Schaeffer, who is celebrated in the industry for his contributions to environmental issues.
