O n Saturday, December 16, 2023, the Orange County Alumnae Chapter (OCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc., commemorated the chapter’s 40th Anniversary with a Jazz Lunch & Celebration. The event, skillfully coordinated by OCAC member Monica Riley and committee, had all of the pomp, circumstance, entertainment, and enjoyment one would expect of a Delta chapter, where excellence is the only option. A large banquet room at the Rosen Centre Hotel glistened with the abundance of stylish red and white attire worn by the Delta sisters, young and old. The Jazz Ensemble of the Osceola County School for the Arts set the mood for the day. And, since it was a jazz luncheon, what better way to do the processional than to have the members of OCAC enter the ballroom via a much-enjoyed New Orleans style second line. Chapter President Kristian Jenkins welcomed the attendees and Kimberly Hicks, OCAC Chaplain, did the invocation and the welcome. OCAC member and Channel 9 Eyewitness News Anchor Daralene Jones graciously
served as Mistress of Ceremonies. While there were many applause- worthy activities throughout the event, including post-event dancing with a DJ that kept it “poppin’,’” the clear highlight of the day was the speech by Cynthia M. A. Butler-McIntyre, 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc. Ms. Butler-McIntyre, introduced by Kyrsten Sheffield, Past Southern Regional Representative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is internationally renowned for her magnificent speeches and this one was no exception. She enthusiastically and masterfully explained the origin of
