Riley Children's Health Annual Report 2022 – 2023

Skilled interventional radiologists at Riley Children’s Health offer a wide range of minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat many pediatric conditions. Reducing the physical trauma associated with open surgery, our program contributes to decreased infection rates, shorter hospital stays and faster overall recoveries. INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

With a background in biomedical engineering, Danielle E. Soranno, MD, is leading efforts to design a reliable, safe neonatal peritoneal dialysis catheter for use in low- and middle-income countries where neonatal hemodialysis is not available.

DIRECTOR Francis E. Marshalleck, MD Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and Imaging Sciences, IU School of Medicine > Connect with Dr. Marshalleck on Doximity.

“Despite the best efforts of local clinicians in these countries, babies whose kidneys would likely recover with just five to seven days of peritoneal dialysis are dying due to the lack of a safe and affordable peritoneal dialysis catheter that can be placed by physicians at the bedside.” EXPERTS Learn more about how a research team is working to address a critical global need. >

Specialized programs Vascular Anomalies Program Interventional radiologists at Riley Children’s collaborate with other pediatric specialists to treat vascular malformations with leading-edge embolization and sclerotherapy. Leading-edge technologies and procedures ■ Pulmonary embolism and DVT thrombectomies ■ Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation of tumors ■ Angiography with intervention (angioplasty, stent placement, embolization)

Riley Children’s is the only facility in Indiana to offer percutaneous management of vascular malformations (high flow and low flow).
