Promoting equality and diversity At the Group level, our ambition is to achieve a workforce where women make up at least 30% of the business. Colas Rail UK is committed to providing equal opportunities and increasing diversity. In 2024, women held 32% of our Early Careers roles with 50% intake for Degree Level Apprentices and 50% in Graduate roles.

Across all our projects, we strive to work sustainably and adopt efficient, low or zero-emission fuels wherever possible. Recent examples include our use of the Hydrogen generator trials at Gloucester Area Signalling Project, trialling HVO fuels with up to 90% lower carbon emissions, and using FuelActive technology to drive fuel efficiency and reduce consumption. Collaborating with environmental experts We aim to work in harmony with the natural environment, prioritising good environmental outcomes as opposed to simply minimising negative impact. As part of our programme of level crossing upgrades in Cornwall, we engaged the expertise of both the Maritime Management Organisation (MMO)
