When posting, be mindful of the copyright and intellectual property rights of others and of LBW Community College. Direct any questions about fair use or copyrighted material to the Director of Learning Resources, Hugh Carter at 334-881-2266.

Do not use the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College logos for endorsements

Do not use the LBWCC logo or any other college images or iconography on personal social media sites. Do not use LBWCC ’s name to promote a product, cause, or political party or candidate.

Respect college time and property

Do not post confidential or proprietary information about Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, students, employees, or alumni. Employees must follow the applicable federal requirements such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPA) of 1996 (health information privacy) and adhere to all applicable college privacy and confidentiality policies. Employees who share confidential information do so at the risk of disciplinary action or termination.

College computers and time on the job are reserved for LBWCC related business as approved by supervisors and in accordance with the Information Technology Policies and Procedures- Acceptable Use Policy. Terms of Service Obey the Terms of Service of any social media platform employed.

Privacy does not exist in the world of social media . Consider what could happen if a post becomes widely known and how that may reflect both on the person posting and the College. Search engines can turn up posts years after they are created and comments can be forwarded or copied. If you would not say it at a conference or to a member of the media, consider whether you should post it online. If

Photographs posted on social media sites easily can be appropriated by visitors. Consider adding a watermark and/or posting images at 72 dpi and approximately 800 x 600 resolutions to protect your intellectual property. Images at that size are sufficient for viewing on the Web, but not suitable for printing. Remember that the policies of LBW Community College related
