History of the Links, Incorporated and The San Bernardino Valley (CA) Chapter
The Links, Incorporated is an international, non - profit corporation established on November 9, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its membership spans more than 17,000 professional women of color and is spread across 300 chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. As one of the nation ’ s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, it is committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The San Bernardino Valley Chapter, which was officially chartered on May 4, 1979, has an inspiring origin story. It was the brainchild of Mrs. Betty Dean Anderson and Mrs. Princie Smith, who, in 1978, gathered a group of 19 service - minded women with a shared vision of improving the communities of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. They introduced the chapter to the citizens of the Inland Empire through a special event, the first Breakfast Ball, held on Saturday, May 5, 1979 at the El Rancho Verde Country Club in Rialto, California. This event, now known as the Scholarship Breakfast Ball, has been a cherished Mother ’ s Day weekend tradition since its inception. Since its charter on May 4, 1979, the San Bernardino Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has left a significant mark on the surrounding cities. Through its resources, it has empowered adults and children, both locally and globally. It has implemented tutoring and mentoring programs for our youth, fostered civic involvement, promoted cultural enrichment, and offered free health and wellness workshops to the public. This unwavering commitment to service and friendship has been the driving force behind the chapter's continuous efforts to enhance our communities.

Greetings From the Chapter President!
Dear Guests,
Welcome to the San Bernardino Valley Chapter ’ s 47th Annual Scholarship Breakfast Ball program. It is both an honor and a joy to have you with us as we gather to celebrate the academic excellence of our scholars and the extraordinary service of community leaders who uplift and inspire. For nearly five decades, our chapter has proudly awarded more than $850,000 in scholarships to 370 students across the Inland Empire. These achievements are made possible by the generosity of our supporters, and we are deeply grateful. Among our longstanding donors are Dr. Herb Fischer, retired San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, and his wife, Dr. Cheryl Fischer, whose $100,000 endowment funds four annual Links Scholarships. We also recognize our Connecting Links, the Riverside Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, our own chapter members, and many community organizations and residents who contribute generously year after year. This past year, we have focused on expanding our reach across the Inland Empire, forging new connections within surrounding counties and continuing to build on our enduring partnership with Dignity Health – Community Hospital of San Bernardino. Through these collaborations, our members contribute thousands of service hours annually, directly impacting the lives of those we serve. Each year, we also take great pride in honoring individuals whose work reflects our mission. This year, we are pleased to recognize Dr. Corey A. Jackson, California State Assemblymember representing the 60th District. Dr. Jackson ’ s steadfast dedication to education, equity, and public service has empowered communities and inspired countless individuals. Dr. Jackson ’ s leadership embodies the very spirit of transformation and purpose we celebrate today. I extend heartfelt thanks to the Breakfast Ball Committee and the Scholarship Committee for their outstanding efforts in organizing this meaningful event. It is a privilege to lead the San Bernardino Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, as we continue our mission of Transforming Communities and Fulfilling Our Purpose.
Warm regards,
Michelle Webley Michelle Webley, President San Bernardino Valley Chapter The Links, Incorporated

2025 White Rose Community Service Award Recognizing service advocates at our annual event is a powerful way to showcase their efforts and contributions to the Inland Empire community. In honor of 47 years of community partnership, the National Trends and Services Facet chose a White Rose Community Leader that highlights their tireless efforts toward the betterment of our community.
Assemblymember Corey A. Jackson, DSW, MSW National Trends and Services Facet
Assemblymember Corey A. Jackson, DSW, MSW, was elected to the California State Assembly in November of 2022 to represent the 60th Assembly District. He was reelected for a second term in November 2024. In 2023, he served as chair of the Human Services Committee and currently chairs Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services. Assemblymember Jackson served on the Riverside County Board of Education in 2020 and represented portions of the cities of Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, and the unincorporated community of Mead Valley. He also served as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SBX Youth and Family Services whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty and violence through mentoring, education, and community organizing. The organization was instrumental in a historic settlement of a lawsuit against the unconstitutional Youth Accountability Team (YAT) program in Riverside County that treated thousands of youths — especially those of color — like criminals for minor adolescent misbehaviors, the county agreed to groundbreaking measures. Dr. Jackson graduated from CSU San Bernardino, where he received his degree in political science and served as a member of the CSU Board of Trustees and Chair of the Santo Manuel Student Union Board of Directors. He is also a graduate of California Baptist University, where he received his Master and Doctor of Social Work degrees.
