Are Dental Implants Worth It?
To answer that question, you have to take your current situation into account and ask yourself these questions. How many teeth are you missing? Is replacing those teeth important to you? Do you know the consequences of not replacing your teeth? Like many denture-wearers, are you worried about or embarrassed by someone discovering that you have a denture? This situation is more common than you might think. Function Denture wearers experience a 90% decrease in chewing efficiency. However, the average patient doesn’t realize that over time, they naturally compensate for this loss and adapt to the lack of function. For example, chewing a steak might be very difficult for someone who wears a full lower denture and eating an apple can be difficult for someone who has a full upper denture. People adjust to these deficiencies by cutting up their food into smaller pieces that don’t necessarily require much chewing. Comfort Comfort is a crucial issue for most denture wearers. Most often, chewing can be uncomfortable because of the pressure that is placed on the gums. Having a piece of plastic pushing onto your gums is not natural and applying the same amount of pressure as you would with your natural teeth can be difficult. Not to mention the amount of food that gets trapped underneath your dentures, creating sore spots which can affect your eating habits and take a couple of days to heal. Movement Movement and too much of it is something that all denture wearers experience. Whether the upper denture falls at an inopportune moment or the lower denture pops out mid-yawn, a loose denture is never fun. One of most embarrassing (and too common) scenarios is having your denture pop out, lift up or fall during a dinner with friends; no one should experience that. For all these reasons and much more, the value of dental implants as a replacement for missing teeth is incalculable. Take a moment and think about all of these factors and other things that are bothersome about your dentures, and you will realize how implants can help give you regain optimal oral function. There exists an excellent variety of different implants, treatments, and systems, and each solution is available at various costs. To find out more about what would work best for you, you would require a complete evaluation of your oral health and the current issues you are experiencing, as well as your goals regarding function. So are dental implants worth it? That’s a question worth thinking about. I know from my own patients’ positive feedback, every one of them who has opted for dental implants would never go back to dentures. Plus de 43 ans après le premier Marathon de l’espoir de Terry Fox, des élèves du secondaire ont perpétué son héritage en marchant 40 kilomètres, soit la distance que Terry Fox parcou- rait chaque jour, de L’Escale jusqu’au monument Terry Fox sur la colline du Parlement, emportant avec eux l’espoir de Terry Fox. Le 26 septembre, au petit matin, plus de deux douzaines d’élèves de L’Escale sont partis de Rockland pour se rendre au centre-ville d’Ottawa, marchant le long de l’autoroute 17 avant de bifurquer sur le DIFNJO0ME.POUSFBM FTDPSUÊTQBSMB1PMJDF QSPWJODJBMFEFM0OUBSJP 110 1PVS3PNBO/PXBL FOTFJHOBOUDPPQÊSBUJG à l’Escale, c’est la sixième fois qu’il participe ÆTBQSPQSFWFSTJPOEV.BSBUIPOEFMFTQPJS depuis qu’il a organisé l’événement pour la première fois en 2007. Ayant perdu ses deux parents et sa belle-mère à cause du cancer, c’est une façon d’honorer l’héritage de Terry Fox tout en rendant hommage à sa famille. « C’est devenu un projet très personnel QPVSNPJ BEJU./PXBL RVFMRVFTIFVSFT après le début de la marche de huit heures. In the third, Mathieu Paquin gave the away side their game winning goal, despite the Colts adding one more to the scoreboard before the game was up, making the final score 5-4 for Rockland. Taking on the Navan Grads at home the following day, September 22, proved to be a more significant challenge for the Nats who went down two early in the first before Kellen Dostaler pulled them out the hole in the 15th minute. Kyle Leonard and Guillaume Labre would put the home side in the black with one each in the second, leaving the third period scoreless and giving the Nats a 3-2 rallying win. Next up for the Nats includes a home game against the Renfrew Wolves Friday night, September 29, before heading to take on cup champions the Ottawa Junior Senators in Gloucester on Saturday. The Nats lost to the Junior Senators in all five match-ups last year. The Nats and Junior Senators game will be streamed live on flohockey.tv.
The Rockland Nationals started a win- ning streak last week, adding two more to the season’s win column, making them 3-0 heading into week three. With a game in hand due to a postpone- ment in week one, the Nats went down to Cornwall on Thursday, September 21, to face off against the Colts. The Nats opened the scoring nearly right off the drop of the puck with Kyle Leonard scoring unassisted 25 seconds into the game, marking his second for the season. Rockland would stay on that trajectory for the first period with Jack Treacy getting his first of the season within three minutes, followed by Jaden Davis in the ninth minute. Cornwall’s Tristan Miron, however, book- ended the intermission with two goals of his own, one 17 minutes into the first and another just 48 seconds into the second period, bringing the Colts within one of the Nats. A Colts check to the head penalty gave Mathieu Fillion the chance to capitalize on the powerplay, giving the Nats more breathing
