Sylvania Girls fall in Regional Semi-finals

Pierce The Sports Ledger The Sylvania Lady Rams saw their season come to an end in the Northeast Regional Basketball Tournament on Saturday, February 17 at Jacksonville State University. The Rams fell to Susan Moore 85-38 to finish the season with a 22-12 record. Taylor Martin paced Sylvania with 10 points and three rebounds. Lady Rams teammate Molly Weaver scored nine points and had four rebounds. Meredith Jackson added seven points and three rebounds. Jaidyn Ashley scored four points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lady Rams. Ten of the rebounds were on defense. Alli Murdock, Natalie Atchley, Aubrey Morgan and Stormie Little each had two points for Sylvania.
Susan Moore’s Lani Smallwood had a double- double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. She also had nine assists, six steals, two blocks and two turnovers. Smallwood was one of five Susan Moore players to score double figures in the game. Mylie Butler and Kristen Ingram scored 13 points each. Mallorie Holland had 12 points and Cesa Hernandez had 10 points and eight rebounds. Ally Holland scored six points in the win. Victoria Calderon added four points and Campbell Loftis chipped in two points. Susan Moore improved to 25-4 overall with the win. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Plainview in the Class 3A Northeast Regional finals at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Ider Girls to Face Pisgah in Regional Finals Ider's Paisley Chapman

Pierce The Sports Ledger The top two 2024 Northeast Alabama girls' basketball teams in Class 2A are approximately 15 miles apart and on Wednesday, February 21 these two programs will battle each other for a chance at a trip to the upcoming AHSAA Final Four. The Ider Hornets and the Pisgah Eagles are set to face off in the Class 2A 2024 Northeast Regional Finals at 12:30 p.m. at Jacksonville State University. The winner will advance to the 2024 State Tournament in Birmingham, while the losing team's season will be over. Ider earned the opportunity to the play in the Regional Championship, by defeating the Sand Rock Wildcats 62-51 in the 2024 Regional Semi-finals on Friday, February 16. With the win, Ider improved to 19-11. The Lady Hornets have a chance at a 20 win season if they can defeat Pisgah in the Regional Finals. Aubree Chapman led Ider with 19 points in the win over Sand Rock. Teammate Kennzie Smith scored 18 points. Addisyn Heard and Makinley Traylor scored eight points each in the win.

Katelyn St. Clair had 19 points and Kennedy Henderson scored 14 points. Chloe Stephens scored seven points for the Lady Wildcats. Zoey Handy had six points, Brylaina Holcomb scored three points, and Peyton Johnson finished with two points. Sand Rock finished the season at 25-7 overall. Pisgah reached the 2024 Regional Championship with a 58-47 victory over Lanett on February 16. Campbell Barron led Pisgah with 23 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and six turnovers. Pisgah teammate Paisley Patalas scored 19 points and had five rebounds. Piper Anderson scored seven points. Ashton Childress scored six points and pulled down 14 rebounds for the Lady Eagles. Madeline Flammia contributed two points and Alex Wright chipped in one point. The win was Pisgah's 20th of the season. The Lady Eagles are 20-10 overall.

Hulgan led all scorers with 20 points in a 72-24 victory over Piedmont. Three other Plainview players also reached double digits in the game. Kami Sanders scored 14 points, Lauren Jimmerson had 12 points, and Gracie Rowell added 10 points. Miley Dukes scored nine points, Ali Price added four points and Zanna Ferguson chipped in three points.
