“Sometimes a small room that’s packed has better energy than a large room,” he explains. “But St. Thomas was kind of the best of both worlds, a big space with so many people that it was full. I was thrilled we had such a big presence.” Beyond the performance, the production team explored several local attractions, including the Railway Museum, Elevated Park, and St. Thomas Dragway. Jonny said one of the biggest surprises for him was learning just how deeply the community honours one of its most famous historical figures.

I think we did a pretty good job of getting a cross-section of St. Thomas.”

“When we did our research, I wrote a couple of jokes about Jumbo,” he admits. “But when I got to St. Thomas, I realized how much respect there is for Jumbo and how the town really honours his legacy – the murals, the statue, even Jumbo on T-shirts. I knew I had to adjust.” Although the demanding filming schedule didn’t allow much downtime, Jonny says he thoroughly enjoyed his time in the city and would happily return. “I had a blast. I’d love to come back and just be a car dude for a couple of days.” Now more than a decade into hosting Still Standing , Jonny says the appeal of the show hasn’t faded. Growing up in a small town himself, the concept resonated immediately. “I fell in love with the idea right away,” he says. “You get to see
