will if they have been told how and why. Stand by your rules with consistency. There must be asteadi- ness to our enforcement if rules are to be of any value. As was pointed out, you must set the spiritual standards for your children. You cannot unless you have avoided worldly practices and upholded godly principles. If as a mother you are only self-centered, wanting your own way for your own amusement, you will have little impact on your daughter's pathway. Once a child has been punished the matter should close. Throwing the wrongdoing up to him repeat edly after he has already been con demned will only provoke him to wrath. He will become frustrated and probably will finally rebel. Af ter you have punished your child in love, pray with him and then forgive and forget. Training up a child in the way he should go, you can participate and anticipate a good future for him. I am not referring to your children becoming rich and fa mous. What really counts is that they become righteous and faithful to the Lord. This is exactly what God pledges to the diligent and faithful parents (Pro. 22:6). We must always be careful that when our children come to the place to receive God's truth that you are ready to lead them to Je sus Christ as their personal Saviour. What higher and holier purpose could we possibly experience than this? Society is plagued by an in creasing number of young adults who are both unrighteous and un restrained. This is why we must al ways set the example as based up on Scripture. Page 53
