THE SOURCE ISSUE 02
A: Initially, I helped build the brand for The Works, a Sweat Studio by Sarah Frick that features multiple disciplines from vinyasa yoga to plyometrics to sculpting and more. After we opened, we felt there was more for The Works brand. I have always loved riding spin bikes in dark rooms and felt that the soulful fitness we offered at The Works Sweat Studio was exactly what Charleston needed, but on a spin bike. Q: TELL US THE STORY BEHIND THE WORKS CYCLE. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE A CYCLING EXPERIENCE THAT BLENDS HIGH-INTENSITY MOVEMENT WITH MINDFULNESS? A: At The Works Cycle, we ride to the beat of the music so that we can get out of our heads and into our bodies. Our classes are full of high energy and intensity, pushing you to your edge so that you can fully step into your power. My hope for everyone who leaves our rooms is to feel less alone and more confident. By sharing our stories as instructors, we have the opportunity to connect with so many people who may be going through the same things. Q: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ENERGY AND PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE WORKS CYCLE CLASSES FOR SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN? A: I have always said, when people walk into our studio I want them to instantly feel like they are at home. I want people to want to hang out before and after class, to want to shower in our locker rooms, and to feel like coming to The Works Cycle is a full experience, not just a 45 minute spin class. We brought that mindset into the process of creating the brand and the space. Q: YOUR BRAND LIVES AT THE INTERSECTION OF FITNESS, LIFESTYLE, AND PERSONAL GROWTH. HOW DO YOU WEAVE THOSE ELEMENTS INTO THE STUDIO EXPERIENCE?
