Qualifications and Experience • Appropriate professional qualifications or equivalent experi- ence Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. • A good practical awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including fire safety. • Previous experience of similar work on Building Maintenance is essential and work with maintenance contractors is highly desirable. • Experience of Building Management Systems in the close control of plant and machinery. • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirement of steam raising plant is essential. • Experience of air conditioning systems to enable full envi- ronmental control of public and storage areas within the gallery. • Understanding and experience of Public Health systems within large buildings. • Experience using Lighting systems and their control for dis- play purposes • Understanding of High Voltage systems would be advanta- geous. Skills and Attributes • A practical ‘can do’ approach combined with good problem solving skills. • An ability to communicate and work well as part of a team. • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, handle multiple priorities and attend to projects of varying scale. • Good people, project management and administrative skills • As part of a small team, willingness to undertake practical tasks on occasion • A good level of IT literacy and experience with Microsoft Of- fice packages, in particular Excel, is essential and experience in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages would be desirable although training in CAD would be considered. Other • An interest and commitment to the work of the Gallery. • The requirement to provide (when necessary) out of hours technical support means some flexibility with hours of work will be necessary. • Ability to physically inspect M&E installations using access equipment as necessary, to occasionally work in confined spaces and to occasionally move, or carry objects.
