Behind the Breeding
In a time when the Torenia market is occupied by some well-established varieties, introducing the Hi-Lite series is a great achievement for me! Hi-Lite was bred to appeal to the eye of the consumer. Long-lasting bright flowers cover tidy, mounded plants to create a real impact, even in extreme heat/humidity, making the consumer proud to have this variety in their garden. As the name suggests, the series “Hi-Lite” has certainly made me smile and has been one of the highlights of my breeding career so far!
The color combinations in the series and their synchronous flowering habit further adds to the radiant floral mix of White, Pink, Deep Blue, Magenta, Blue and White and the more novel Jump Up types. To create a new series of bold and beautiful Torenias in a range of colors, starting from such a miniscule seed has definitely been a great accomplishment for me and I look forward to seeing it used in pots and the landscape in the future!
