Turning Goals Into Growth at Anthony’s Lawn Care BIG DREAMS, STEADY STEPS
With the new year right around the corner, everyone is starting to think about their New Year’s resolutions, including all of us at Anthony’s Lawn Care. Last year, we started laying the groundwork for an exciting new expansion. In 2026, we have more goals, many of which will take time and planning before they fully roll out. But that’s the truth about resolutions; they’re not just about checking off boxes or setting a goal and hoping it sticks. Whether it’s finishing a project, breaking a bad habit, or growing your business, you have to create a plan you can actually follow, broken down into steps over time with a solid goal guiding it all. When I look back at where we started, it’s wild to see how far we’ve come. My first couple of summers doing this work, we had 30–40 clients. We now serve around 4,000 customers and cover 121 cities and towns in Indiana. On top of that, we have just expanded into Tennessee, with our first truck and trailer already on the ground there. It’s a big milestone for us, and it’s all happened step by step, just steady, sustainable growth.
We’re still in the process of expanding on other services as well. In November 2022, we added Anthony’s Junk Hauling to help homeowners and local businesses clear out unwanted items, declutter their spaces, and handle waste disposal. That’s just one ancillary company that’s helping people right here in Indiana and can be useful to other cities as we grow. Our biggest resolution for 2026 is to strengthen our vision of where we want to grow and create the best possible experience for our customers and team. Our expansion to Tennessee is just the start of Anthony’s Home Services National. Just like any goals, we start small and slow, until we can eventually franchise and give people the chance to run really great locations. A nationwide expansion doesn’t happen overnight, and we’re not in a rush. We will probably expand into two or three states over the next 5–7 years so that we can do it right. It’s not growing for the sake of it. It’s growing so we can provide even faster and better service to our customers.
We want to work with people for the long haul, not just for one season or a single landscaping project. Our customers are everything, so we’re taking steps to make it the best experience ever. We’ve been able to build a wonderful home for employees. Many say it’s their favorite job, and we strive to have a really supportive and uplifting atmosphere for all. We’re excited about growth, but at the heart of all this is taking care of our repeat customers, new people, and the staff that make this all possible. I didn’t create this business framework overnight, and Anthony’s Lawn Care looked very different when I first started. It began with mowing lawns, and now we’re doing complete landscaping projects, big patios, and tree trimming, while also expanding to other states. Whatever your resolutions are this year, make sure you have a vision guiding them on what really matters. My resolutions this year aren’t really about numbers; they’re about people. Every yard we mow, every project, and every new location is built on the same foundation we started with: doing honest work, showing up for our customers, and continually improving. As we go into 2026, we are incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported us. Here’s to big dreams, steady steps forward, and a fantastic year ahead.

Tips to Jumpstart Your Landscaping Goals New Year, Fresh Lawn
MAKE WINTER BONFIRES YOUR NEW TRADITION DON’T LET THE FIRE DIE
A new year is the perfect time to hit refresh, not just for you, but for your yard, too. As you set your resolutions, make sure to include your outdoor space. Just like any other goal, planning ahead and working in small, incremental steps can help ensure you accomplish everything you set out to do in the yard in 2026. From getting an early start to creating the ultimate green social space, here are three simple resolutions for your landscape this year.
Many Americans invite their friends and family for a bonfire throughout the summer and
fall. Nothing beats making s’mores, sharing stories, and enjoying the flickering flame under the moonlight. As temperatures drop and winter weather appears on the radar, some cover and ignore their bonfire area until after the cold and rainy seasons. However, you can still create an awe-inspiring bonfire during winter if you put together a plan. Winter bonfires can quickly become a regular part of your seasonal traditions, and these strategies will help ensure your bonfire is a hit with everyone who attends. Help people stay warm. Nobody wants to sit outside in the dark and freezing cold. Encourage everyone attending to dress in warm clothes appropriate for the frigid temperatures, but be prepared to help out if someone starts to feel chilly. Have extra blankets and coats within reach so you can easily pass them to anyone in need. Provide toasty treats. Sometimes, clothes alone are not enough to protect us from winter’s chill. During these moments, it can help to eat or drink something that fills your whole body with warmth. Thankfully, you’ll have a bonfire to help you toast and warm some delicious treats. S’mores are usually the go-to, but you can also warm up hot dogs, sausages, or even corn on the cob. And don’t forget the drinks! Hot chocolate, warm apple cider, or even tea can help everyone stay comfortable and in good spirits. Add games or fun activities. Some may grow bored with traditional bonfire activities, which is why you should have an extra activity or game up your sleeve. Depending on the lighting, you could play a card or board game. If the lighting is too dim, you can incorporate other activities requiring more movement and adventure. Kids and adults alike will have fun playing a game of flashlight tag or participating in a scavenger hunt. Plus, the extra movement will help everyone stay warm!
Create an outdoor oasis. Spending time outdoors is beneficial for your well-being and can help reduce stress in your life. Resolve to spend more time in your outdoor space by transforming it into the ultimate oasis. This is an excellent opportunity to create a seating area, fire pit, or relaxing water feature. If you have wanted to pave a walkway or redo a patio, make 2026 the year it finally happens. Sharpen your green thumb. Set a goal to hone your gardening skills. No matter your experience level, gardening is a peaceful pastime that can bring you a great sense of accomplishment. You could sign up for a class that focuses on a particular interest area, like native plants or pruning. There is also a wealth of free resources available online, like YouTube videos and the blog at Anthony’s Lawn Care. Even if you just set a goal to spend more time in the garden, it will give you a greener thumb over time. Get growing early Just like procrastination can get in the way of your personal resolutions, it can also cause unexpected delays or struggles in your yard. It’s never too early to start planning what you want to accomplish with your landscaping. It could be as simple as deciding which seeds to start when the right season arrives or giving your yard a pre-spring spruce-up. At Anthony’s Lawn Care, our schedule can fill up quickly this time of year, so we encourage you to beat the rush and give us a call. If you’re already a customer, we will reach out to you so you can get first dibs on our services.

LANDSCAPING LORE DEBUNKED GARDENING MYTHS THAT COULD BE HARMING YOUR YARD
Mulch will destroy your garden! Lawns need daily watering! Pruning too much will kill your shrubs!
foundation. As long as there is enough distance between the mulch and your house, you won’t have to worry about these bugs doing damage. Myth: Shorter grass is easier to maintain. Though it may make sense at first glance, keeping your grass short isn’t a time-saving move or a way to make maintenance easier. When you mow your lawn too short, it weakens the grass, exposes soil, can permanently damage roots, and invites weeds to grow. A good rule of thumb is to never remove more than one-third of blade height in a single mow. You can always call a pro, like Anthony’s Lawn Care, to get the perfect mow for your lawn. Myth: Plants need an inch of water every week. It’s often recommended to water your plants one inch every week, but in reality, how much water plants need varies greatly. New plants and young seedlings may require daily watering during the early stages, while their root systems are still developing. On the other hand, established trees may only need supplemental watering during dry spells. Watering depends on the type of plant, its growth stage, the soil, the weather, and the season.
These days, there’s landscaping advice everywhere, and it can be hard for homeowners to sort the flowery facts
from fiction. Many of the most common landscaping and gardening myths come from outdated practices or half-truths. Heeding them too closely can lead to mistakes, wasted time, or even harm to your plants. Let’s dig up some of this landscaping lore so real wisdom can take root.
Myth: Mulch will destroy your yard and home. Many gardeners pause when it comes to mulch, but the truth is that when used correctly, it has numerous benefits for plants, like preventing erosion and improving soil health. It’s a common misconception that mulch can attract termites to your garden beds or even your home, because it creates a damp environment. Ensure that any mulch beds are at least six inches away from the base of your home’s
