TLMI Shields (CONT’D FROM PAGE 37) Shields grew up in the label and package printing in- dustry and, in 1990, began working at Graymills—the com- pany owned by her family since 1980. Today, along with her brother Craig Shields, who serves as the company’s CEO, she leads a 50-employee oper- ation in a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Broadview, Illinois. Under her leadership, Graymills continues to devel- op innovative ink pumps, metalworking pumps and parts washers critical to high-quality label and package printing. Shields has championed new product development, expanded industry partnerships, and strengthened the company’s reputation for engineering excellence. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Shields is rec- ognized nationally as a leading advocate for workforce development in manufacturing. She actively supports in- ternships, trade school partnerships, and career-pathway programs that introduce young people – especially young woman – to careers in printing and manufacturing. “Workforce development is something I’m truly pas- sionate about,” Shields said. “We work with local high schools and colleges to show students that manufacturing offers strong, rewarding career opportunities. Although it’s very much male dominated, there are tremendous oppor- tunities for women in this field.” Shields is deeply involved with the FTA’s Women in Flexo program and the Illinois Manufacturers’ Women Makers group, where she mentors emerging female lead- ers. The Makers group is a powerful initiative by the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. Mark Andy, Phil-Tech Offer Joint Open House Nearly 90 representatives from close to 50 South Korean companies took part in the Open House organized by Phil- Tech, the exclusive Mark Andy partner in this market. The participants included flexible packaging and label con- verters, brand owners and trade media. Mark Andy was represented by Tom Cavalco, Vice President Internation- al Sales. The event offered an opportunity to showcase the Performance Series P7 flexo press. In the configura- tion prepared for the Open House, the press featured 12 printing and converting units, LED UV curing system, and integrated automation solutions. The agenda included live demonstrations using two types of substrates. The 275‑micron ABL (Alufoil Barrier Layer) laminates were used to print flexible packaging for toothpaste, while the 40‑micron PET films were used for shrink sleeve labels. Presentations delivered by invited ex- perts – including representatives from Amcor – focused on laminate production for tubes, metalised and holographic solutions, as well as growing importance of materials con- taining recycled ingredients.
