La munic- ipalité avait emprunté 853 000$ en 1999 afin de financer le projet. Une partie du surplus, 531 904$, est déjà engagée pour mener à terme la con- struction du nouvel hôtel de ville. Michel Lepage has received the Com- missioner’s Citation for Bravery “for his courageous life-saving actions” after be- ing recommended for the honour by a Hawkesbury O.P.P constable.

CALUMET | Le contribuable typique dans Grenville-sur-la-Rouge paiera 147$, ou 8,56%, de moins en taxes foncières cette année, à la suite de l’approbation d’un budget «proactif et innovateur qui représente un virage important pour la municipalité», selon le maire John Say- well. Le taux de taxe pour les résidences tombe de 72,76 cents à 65 cents par 100$ d’évaluation. Alors que les évaluations ont augmenté, la municipalité entend ramass- er 3 913 559$ en taxes foncières, compara- tivement à 3 909 176$ en 2013. Selon les chiffres présentés lors d’une as- semblée spéciale lundi soir, le propriétaire d’une maison d’une valeur de 152 300$ paiera 1 574,12$ en taxes cette année, tan- dis le propriétaire d’une maison de 144 300 $ a payé 1 721,55$ en 2013. Seuls les frais pour la collecte d’ordures augmentent. Elles passeront de 138$ à 146$. Les taxes résidentielles sur une maison de 152 300$ seront de 989,95$ comparativement à 1049,93$ en 2013. 37 charges In the week of January 13 to January 20, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers responded to 206 occurrences and laid 37 charges. Officers investigated a break and enter and five assaults and six thefts. Drug seizures During the last weekend, Constables Jonathan Bouchard and Leslie Hahn confiscated il- licit drugs and laid trafficking charges after stopping two vehicles. January 17, at approxi- mately 9:30 p.m., the officers intercepted a black 2005 Mazda 3 while conducting a RIDE checkpoint on Main Street East near John Street in Hawkesbury. Officers discovered inside the vehicle a quantity of marijuana, with a street value of $1,600. The driver, David Poulin Lemieux, 25, of East Hawkesbury was charged with possession for the purpose of traffick- ing. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court February 5 in L’Orignal. On January 19, at approximately 3 a.m., the same officers intercepted a grey 2003 Chrys- ler Sebring while conducting a RIDE checkpoint on the Long Sault Bridge. Officers confis- cated from the vehicle drugs with a street value of $1,900. They included marijuana, Ecsta- sy, cocaine and“speed.”The constables also found an expandable baton which is classified as a prohibited weapon. The driver, Antoine Pellerin, 23, of Sorel-Tracy, was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine and can- nabis resin, and unauthorized possession of a weapon. He was later released on a promise to appear in L’Orignal court February 5.
