Tech Tips: They start slow after transplant and need warm temperatures and high light intensities to establish and grow. Cold temperatures will lead to long crop times and poor overall quality. Plants will flower faster under relatively long days. Plants will benefit from one to two pinches to improve branching and fill on large pots and patio containers. Bonzi ® drenches work well to control growth. Tech Tips: Keep media pH down in the mid 5.0’s to avoid iron deficiency and tip chlorosis. Temperatures can be lowered three weeks after planting and especially towards the end of production to tone or hold the plant. High DLIs and cool finishing temperatures produce high-quality petunias. Dekko was bred and selected to flower under day lengths of 10.5 hours; however, flower number increases under longer day lengths. Use proper sanitation when pinching or shearing petunia. Petunia and other solanaceous crops are highly susceptible to Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV), which can be easily transmitted by mechanical means.
