Busan 2025

Upstairs, geometry and drapery share the stage in a sophisticated pas de deux: a trapezoidal hearth nods to Marcel Breuer while pooled curtains soften the corners with a sense of arrival. A lacquered Coromandel screen—moody, tactile, and steeped in storytelling—anchors the primary suite, giving it a sense of worldliness without overpowering its serenity. Even the guest quarters bloom with unapologetic Schumacher florals. The print, romantic and slightly old-world, is counterbalanced with Scandinavian silhouettes and Nakashima-inspired wooden moments—a spirited dialogue between exuberance and restraint. “Shadow to softness, moodiness to quiet glow—that was the true arc of the renovation.” As the project expanded, so did the emotional stakes. A nursery needed to be ready in time for the couple’s first child, and Zuchowicki worked through seven months of bicoastal deadlines, design shipments, and evolving visions. Yet what emerged is a home with conviction and softness, a space that feels edited but never sterile, intentional but never rigid. The final result is airy, unguarded, and unapologetically layered—a little California sun with just enough New York edge. It is a home that feels lived, loved, and ready for the next chapter, the kind of place where architectural clarity meets the shimmer of memory. EC
