ULRs & WORKPLACE LEARNING UNION LEARNING REPS
WHAT IS A UNION LEARNING REP (ULR)? Union Learning Reps (ULRs) are volunteers who are willing to encourage and support other colleagues with learning in the workplace. ULRs are entitled to paid time off to carry out their role. This includes time for their own training. UNISON provides introductory training for Learning Reps, and there is potential follow-on training that you can undertake depending on your interests. ULRs can arrange training from our programme for free for their members and work with employers to arrange time off to study.
If you are interested in learning more about the ULR role, please contact your local branch or contact the education team on 028 9027 0190 or email educationni@unison.co.uk
ORGANISING WORKPLACE LEARNING
If you want to find out more about organising workplace learning, link in with your local branch officers or email educationni@unison.co.uk Around 66% of UNISON members who accessed our education programme last year did so with paid time off for study. You can arrange a UNISON course for you and your UNISON colleagues in your workplace. You can choose from anything in the programme or anything of interest or benefit to you (please see the list at the back of this book). Our only stipulation is that this isn’t something your employer should provide. Union Learning Reps (ULRs) can help UNISON members organise learning in the workplace and negotiate time off with the employer.
