ORGANISING STEWARDS
Stage 1
UNISON stewards are the most important link between members in the workplace, their employer and the wider union. This 10-day course is for new stewards to give you the knowledge and skills to support members locally and take on issues in your workplace. The first four days (Stage 1) are about who we are and where we are going, your place in UNISON, organising and meeting your members.

HEALTH & SAFETY – PART 2
Being a health and safety rep entitles you to paid time off for union duties. All stewards are asked to complete health and safety training to enable them to support members in the workplace and to secure time off to do so. This is particularly important for those in the private voluntary sector. This six-day course covers legislation, risk assessments, workplace inspections and areas of health and safety, including physical environment, equipment, lone working, and work-related stress.
