MANAGING CHALLENGING CONVERSATIONS

On every work team, challenging situations inevitably arise, and we encounter the need to have difficult conversations. Understanding our own comfort levels with difficult conversations and developing the confidence and competence to conduct them well is critical to success. Using key techniques to navigate difficult conversations will allow you to manage and grow the relationships you maintain. During this workshop, you will: · Learn how to prepare mentally for difficult conversations. · Use a roadmap rather than a script to guide how you conduct difficult conversations toward a win-win outcome. HEALTH & SAFETY – PART2 Being a health and safety rep entitles you to paid time off for union duties. All stewards are asked to complete health and safety training to enable them to support members in the workplace and to secure time off to do so. This is particularly important for those in the private voluntary sector. This six-day course covers legislation, risk assessments, workplace inspections and areas of health and safety, including physical environment, equipment, lone working, and work-related stress.
